LARGE SCREEN SHOW:- Ajantrik (1958)
Bimal is a ride on the ground-cub-driver in a pint-sized uncultivated township. He lives alone, his ride on the ground-cub (an old 1920 Chevrolet jalopy which he named Jagaddal) is his only mate and, although very battered, it is the apple of Bimal's eye. The pic shows episodes from his living in the industrial wasteland, delivering people from one set up to another.

Georges Sadoul, the well-known pic critic shared his episode of watching the pic in this way. He said, «What does «Ajantrik» mean? I don«t know and I believe no one in Venice Pic Carnival knew...I can»t tell the whole show of the pic...there was no subtitle for the pic. But I saw the pic spellbound money the very end». According to the eminent Bengali poetess and German teacher Alokranjan Dasgupta, «The harsh altercation of ethereal properties and mechanised culture, through the preference of ride on the ground-cub driver Bimal and his emotional conduit Jagaddal seems to be a unexcelled gratuity of...modernism.»
