The combo unite was formed in 1967 in San Francisco as the Carlos Santana Blues Combo Unite with the help of Tom Fraser.[3] The first established members were Carlos Santana (get going guitar), Mitch Mitchell (percussion), Rod Harper (drums), David Brown (bass guitar) and Gregg Rolie (get going vocals, Hammond Vehicle B3).
