Inspired by the farces of the elderly Roman dramatist Plautus (251-183 B.C.) – specifically Pseudolus, Miles Gloriosus and Mostellaria – it tells the ribald whodunit of a toiler named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his candidness by plateful his teenaged overall woo the popsy next door. The flick was directed by Richard Lester, with Zero Mostel and Jack Gilford reprising their position roles.
