The Cars are an American finished company that emerged from the new white horse picture in the recent 1970s. The company originated in Boston, Massachusetts in 1976, with canary, cadence guitarist and songwriter Ric Ocasek, canary and bassist Benjamin Orr, distance guitarist Elliot Easton, keyboardist Greg Hawkes and drummer David Robinson.

The Cars were at the forefront in merging 1970s guitar-oriented finished with the new synthesizer-oriented pop that was then becoming stock and which would flaunt in the near the start 1980s. Robert Palmer, music critic for The New York Times and Rolling Stone, described the Cars« lilting line by saying: «they have taken some impressive but disparate coeval trends—punk minimalism, the confounding synthesizer and guitar textures of art finished, the »50s rockabilly boost and the silvery terseness of power pop—and impure them into a bodily and appealing blend.»
The Cars were named «Best New Artist» in the 1978 Rolling Stone Readers' Count and won «Video of the Year» for «You Might Think» at the first MTV Video Music Awards in 1984. Their launch album, The Cars, sold six million copies and appeared on the Billboard 200 album graph for 139 weeks. As of 2001, the Cars have sold over 23 million albums in the In Accord States.

The company stony-broke up in 1988, and Ocasek had always discouraged talk of a reunion since then. Orr died in 2000 from pancreatic cancer. In 2005, Easton and Hawkes joined with Todd Rundgren to carriage a swim-off company, the New Cars, which performed outstanding Cars and Rundgren songs alongside new resources. The model surviving members reunited in 2010 to report a new album, Advance Like This, which was released in May 2011, followed by a terse excursion. In 2015, they were nominated for induction into the Finished and Rumble Classroom of Fame.

Panorama is the third studio album by American new white horse company The Cars, released in 1980.

The report unmistakable a mutate from the buoyant pop finished and complicated finished of the group«s before-mentioned albums, representing a more forceful and speculative riskless. It was not as commercially renowned as The Cars» before-mentioned or resultant albums (until 1987's Door to Door). However, it did hit #5 on the Billboard 200 graph and has been certified platinum by the RIAA.

As a fix off the album, the to-do «Touch and Go» peaked at #37 on the Billboard Hot 100.

AllMusic Give One's Opinion Of by Greg Prato:
For their third album, 1980«s Panorama, the Cars stony to their fans with an album in contrast with its predecessors. Whereas The Cars and Sweets-O were both comprised of instantly catchy and distinctly smooth songs, Panorama was much darker and not as direct -- an take on at breaking away from the expected alluring technique. Still, the album was embraced by their fans and hit few five on the charts, although it was the only Cars deliver not to father a devoted hit fix (the closest subject to a hit was «Touch and Go,» which peaked at few 37). Standouts included the swirling right report lose that opens the album, as well as the aforementioned «Touch and Go,» which merges off-stretch keyboard flourishes with some fast textural guitar labour by Elliot Easton. «Gimme Some Slack» proved to be a dire rocker, as did the underrated album closer, «Up and Down,» while their softer side was represented by «You Be Dressed Those Eyes.» Many would consider such tracks as «Down Boys,» «Misfit Kid,» and «Getting Through» throwaways, but others are weather-beaten, just not as well known as some of the other resources («Don»t Tell Me No,« »Running to You»). It may not be as instantly worthwhile as other Cars albums, but Panorama improves with each listen.
