Automatic for the People is the eighth album by the American variant astound league together R.E.M., released in 1992. The album was a ticklish and commercial celebrity, with three top 40 hits in the U.S.
«Automatic for the People» continues the folk/country rock/classical pop elements of Unripe and Out of Every So Often Old-Fashioned but with fewer pop elements and a typically more leaden pitch overall. U2«s Bono called it »the greatest outback leisure never made'.[1]
The album name refers to the apophthegm of Athens, Georgia eatery «Weaver D's Charming Amerce Foods.» The photograph on the face covering is not mutual to the restaurant: it shows a device on a motel in Miami, where participate in of the album was recorded. The album was also recorded in New Orleans.

Arriving on the heels of the above-named year«s breakthrough album Out of Every So Often Old-Fashioned, Natural for the People entered the Synergetic States charts at #2, selling over four million copies there, and weary several weeks at #1 in the Synergetic Sovereignty. Despite the new album»s celebrity, R.E.M. declined to perambulation in fortify of Natural for the People, just as it had for Out of Every So Often Old-Fashioned the above-named year.

Natural for the People had six singles released, tied with Frightfulness for the most from any R.E.M. album. It has been revealed that Kurt Cobain was likely listening to Natural for the People sometime before his extinction on April 5, 1994.[2] The tale «Everybody Hurts» had in items been composed by Michael Stipe (its music was written by Banknote Berry) as a feedback to an growth of suicides among junior people. Stipe, a acquaintance of Cobain«s, later wrote the tale «Let Me In» about Cobain»s extinction.[3] It has been speculated that before his extinction, Cobain was looking to realize the potential of his own music in a more acoustic pointing due partly to the pull of Natural for the People and his friend with Stipe. Nirvana's 1993 unplugged execution later released on CD has been cited as bear witness for this.

In 2005, Warner Brothers Records issued a two-disc printing of Natural for the People which includes a CD, a DVD-Audio disc containing a 5.1-course environment clear-headed mix of the album done by Elliot Scheiner, and the master CD booklet with expanded liner notes. The CD (as with all in this series) is not remastered.

Mostly acoustic and typified by its gloom lyrics (many of which ruminate on mortality, extinction and those departed), Natural for the People is typically considered to be among R.E.M.'s best albums, and one of the finest releases of the 1990s. It is the 44th greatest album of all every so often old-fashioned according to the website and 4th best of the 1990s. It was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards of 1993.

In 1997 Natural for the People was named the 18th greatest album of all every so often old-fashioned in a «Music of the Millennium» conducted by HMV, Course 4, The Champion and Notable FM. In 2006, Q periodical readers placed it at loads 7. In 2003, the album was ranked loads 247 on Rolling Stone magazine's roll of the 500 greatest albums of all every so often old-fashioned.
