AllMusic Go Over Again by Mike DeGagne:
Mike Oldfield’s groundbreaking album Tubular Bells is arguably the finest conglomeration of off-centered instruments concerted together to colour a fasten on together alike. A breed of instruments are combined to fabricate an testy multitude of rhythms, tones, pitches, and harmonies that all melt neatly into each other, resulting in an astounding plethora of music. Oldfield plays all the instruments himself, including such oddities as the Farfisa fortnightly, the Lowrey fortnightly, and the flageolet. The routine mysterious break, made distinguished by its use in The Exorcist, starts the album off slowly, as each prime mover acoustically wriggles its way into the prevailing dissonance that is heard, until there is a fine unison of individual sounds that wildly excites the ears. Throughout the album, the tempos pass over from still to acute to wholly surprising, making for some terrific harmonious culminations. Mandolins and Spanish guitars are joined by grinding organs and keyboards, while oddball bells and cranking noises qualifications in the detach. In the centre of the album, lodger Vivian Stanshall announces each prime mover seconds before it is heard, ending with the menacing sounding tubular bells, a truly potent and dominating prime mover. The most compelling and awesome feature of this album is the the score that so many sounds are conjured up yet none go overlooked, allowing the listener a inchmeal submergence into each together platter apportion of the music. Tubular Bells is a conjecture sail into the empire of new age music.
