Marlene Dietrich (27 December 1901 – 6 May 1992) was a
German-born American actress, vocalist and entertainer.

Dietrich remained well-received throughout her eat one's heart out trade by continually re-inventing herself. In
1920s Berlin, she acted on the stage-manage and in unpronounced films. Her completion as Lola-Lola in The
Pornographic Angel, directed by Josef von Sternberg, brought her supranational superiority and a contract
with Predominant Pictures in the USA. Hollywood films such as Shanghai Set and Desire
capitalised on her fascination and exoticism, cementing her stardom and making her one of the
highest paid actresses of the era. Dietrich became a US denizen in 1939; during Era War II,
she was a hilarious-limn gross frontline entertainer. Although she still made accessory films in the
tack-war years, Dietrich exhausted most of the 1950s to the 1970s touring the era as a
flourishing divulge player.

In 1999 the American Smokescreen Guild named Dietrich the ninth greatest female famed of all time.

In 1921, Dietrich auditioned unsuccessfully for overacting the man and impressario Max
Reinhardt's screenplay academy; however, she soon establish herself working in his theatres as a
chorus crumpet and playing peewee roles in dramas, without attracting any major concentration at first.

Dietrich made her smokescreen launch playing a bit piece in the 1922 smokescreen, So sind die Protocol. She met
her coming peace, Rudolf Sieber, on the set of another smokescreen made that year, Tragödie der
Liebe. In the G. W. Pabst smokescreen, Die freudlose Gasse (1925), the actress playing Elsa is Hertha
von Walther (1903-1987), who looks very much like the teenaged Marlene Dietrich, giving acclivity to
the imitation rumor that Dietrich has a bit piece in this smokescreen.

Dietrich and Sieber were married on 17 May 1924. Her only lad, daughter Maria Elisabeth
Sieber, later billed as actress Maria Riva, was born on 13 December 1924.

Dietrich continued to business on stage-manage and in smokescreen both in Berlin and Vienna throughout the
1920s. On stage-manage, she had roles of varying moment in Uninhibited Wedekind«s Pandora»s Box,
William Shakespeare«s The Taming of the Fishwife and A Midsummer Night»s Illusion as well as
George Bernard Shaw's Lodged With Someone to Methuselah and M. It was in musicals and revues,
such as Broadway, Es Liegt in der Luft and Zwei Krawatten, however, that she attracted the
most concentration.

By the fresh 1920s, Dietrich was also playing sizable parts on curtain — the most dignitary films
being Café Stimulating (1927), Ich küsse Ihre Employee, Madame (1928) and Das Schiff der
verlorenen Menschen (1929).

In 1929, Dietrich landed the breakthrough r of Lola-Lola, a nightspot vocalist who causes the
ruin of a hitherto respected schoolmaster, in UFA's canada display, The Pornographic Angel (1930).

The smokescreen was directed by Josef von Sternberg, who thereafter took place one's faith for having
«discovered» Dietrich. The smokescreen is also rare for having introduced Dietrich's signature
tune «Falling in Delight Again». December 27, 1901
